Alliance Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) – Finding Health and Well Being in Madison, WI.

Heading into 2022, Health should be at the top of everyone’s mind.  Health has always been a staple of Madison culture.  But, we have all been struggling.  Mentally and physically struggling.  The world has changed a lot over the past few years.  But the reality is, not as much as many think.  Health is and always should be important to us.  Even before Covid, Heart disease was the #1 killer in the United States.  We need to be healthy.  Recent events should only reinforce this idea.  Finding healthy ways to to workout should always be at the top of everyone’s list.

I think many people finding getting into a workout routine to be difficult.  No doubt.  Even if you enjoy working out, it is something that consumes time in an already hectic day.  We are stretched between work, school or kids, grocery shopping, etc.  Sometimes it is easier to just sit at home, snack, and watch TV.  But deep down we know, as relaxing as this is, it isn’t the right choice.

Finding a fun and motivating way to exercise is the first step.  Things that give you achievable goals as well as results.  While some opt for the quick trip to the gym.  There is nothing wrong with that!  We believe there is a better way to not only get in shape, but find mental peace and learn valuable skills.  Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (or BJJ) could be the answer.

Why BJJ?

Well first off, it’s no secret, but BJJ is fun!  And if something is enjoyable, you’ll tend to want to do it more often.  Imagine if running on a treadmill put a smile on your face and made you laugh.  It might for some, but I don’t normally see that as a common reaction.  But BJJ does.  It doesn’t take long, usually your first lesson, to see how enjoyable this sport can be.  The first time you realize how strong you are, you are addicted.  No you don’t need to be muscle bound, BJJ shows you how leverage makes you strong.

So you get through your first lessons and start making friends.  You laugh and joke about training.  Finishing each class with a good sweat and a smile.  Weeks go by and you realize that you feel different.  Clothes are fitting different.  You have more energy.  But most of all you have this mental clarity about you.  Jiu Jitsu is improving not only your body, but also your mind.  With the Health Jiu Jitsu in your life, the gloomy gray sky of a Madison winter don’t seem so bad.  Everyday you train that seasonal depression seems to disappear.   You have become more determined than ever to accomplish your goals.

Your next Doctor’s visit is a big surprise.  You’ve changed your diet to encompass the BJJ lifestyle.  Your blood pressure has improved and you have even lowered your cholesterol a few points.   Your Doctor says your Health is in the top 20% of Madison residents.   You leave feeling excited about this new journey you are on, and it’s only been a few months.  You picture what your life will be like a year from now.  Even healthier?  Most definitely!  But you’ll probably also have developed some life saving skills, as well.  You smile knowing you can handle yourself in a bad situation.  We hope you never have to!

This doesn’t have to be a just a story, it can be a reality.  Being Healthy is a lifestyle.  So in training Jiu Jitsu.  Combining the two makes for a fun and exciting way to make health a routine.   Let us be the next great change in your life!  We want to help you become the person you have always wanted to be!
